1. 表「不利于…」

常见搭配词为 work/go/count against sb「…对某人不利」。
 
The new policy seems to work against small businesses, making it harder for them to compete with bigger companies.
这项新政策似乎对小型企业不利，让它们更难与大型公司竞争。
 

2. against 与 brush、beat、hit、push 等动词连用时有「碰到…，打到…，撞到…（某物表面）」等意思。

Henry hit his leg against the table while walking to the bathroom in the dark. 
亨利在黑暗中走去浴室时脚撞到了桌子。
 

3. 表「（作为支撑）倚靠著」。

Vivian sat down and rested her back against the wall.
薇薇安坐了下来，然后把背靠在墙上。
 

4. 表「违反；犯；（法律或规则）禁止」。

It is against the rules to run around the pool. 
在泳池周围奔跑是违反规定的。
 

5. 表「反对（计划、想法或行动）」。

The law passed with 100 votes for and only three against it. 
这条法律以 100 票赞成、仅 3 票反对获得通过。
